The SPAS-12 uses a dual-mode system with a short-stroke gas semi-automatic setting and a manual pump setting, selectable via the A/M control on the forend. This configuration gives the user flexibility across a wide range of 12 gauge loads within its 2.75 inch chamber specification.
Its 21.5 inch steel barrel has external threads and comes with a knurled thread protector. A vented metal heat shield and polymer pump sleeve complete the front end, while a right-side cylindrical charging handle and right-side ejection port handle the cycling and extraction duties.
The folding steel skeleton stock over-folds the top of the receiver and includes a rectangular butt cap without a hook. A polymer pistol grip with horizontal serrations and a 13.5 inch length of pull provide a solid interface. Capacity is listed as 8+1, with the magazine tube extending near the muzzle.
The aluminum-alloy receiver includes an internal buffer and carries the correct roll mark: "S.P.A.S. 12 – L. FRANCHI S.P.A. – BRESCIA MADE IN ITALY," with F.I.E. Corp Miami FL import markings and Italian proof stamps on the barrel extension.
The "L. Franchi" nomenclature denotes Luigi Franchi and is not a separate model variant.
Manufactured in 1982 and imported before the 1989 restriction, this SPAS-12 aligns with highly sought preban features, Italian origin, and documented import history. Fixed iron sights with a fixed blade front, a lever safety, and the aluminum-alloy frame round out the build.
