What’s Included
- Marlin Model 39-A .22 rimfire lever-action rifle
This 1947 Marlin Model 39-A represents an early configuration with no cross-bolt safety and the pre-1953, pre-Micro-Groove setup that collectors look for. The D-prefix serial (1947) and New Haven, Connecticut manufacture place it squarely in the classic 1940s production era.
The rifle uses Marlin’s takedown system, identifiable by the large slotted receiver screw, allowing the action and barrel assembly to separate from the receiver. It is built on blued steel with a matching blued receiver, paired with a walnut pistol-grip stock and smooth walnut fore-end.
Sighting is handled by a Dockendorff micrometer-adjustable rear sight working with a hooded ramp front sight, a period-correct combination that provides fine elevation and windage adjustment. The 24-inch round blued barrel is the traditional length for this model and era.
Rimfire versatility is a hallmark of the 39-A. This example chambers .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle and feeds from a full-length tubular magazine listed at 15-round capacity. Sling attachment points are set at the fore-end cap and buttstock, and the stock is finished with a hard rubber buttplate and white-line spacer.
