Built to commemorate the NRA’s first century, this Second Generation SAA was produced in 1971 as a limited run of 5,001 revolvers. It carries the special gold "1871 NRA Centennial 1971" barrel inscription and uses the commemorative NRA-prefix serial number format associated with this series.
The revolver retains the classic Colt SAA configuration: six-shot, gate-loaded, single-action operation with a 5.5-inch barrel. Sights are fixed, with a blade front and a square-notch rear integral to the top strap. The right-side ejector rod housing and standard-length cylinder flutes follow traditional SAA lines.
Construction is all-steel with a blued barrel and cylinder paired to a color case-hardened frame. Smooth walnut grips with inset round medallions complement the period-correct finishes and give this commemorative a clean, authentic look.
Factory-style markings include the Colt top-of-barrel Hartford address and three-line patent dates. Made in the United States in 1971, this Second Generation commemorative brings together historical tribute, proven Colt SAA form, and attractive presentation.
