Markings include "SAVAGE ARMS WESTFIELD, MASS. U.S.A." on the receiver and "PROOF TESTED 20 GAUGE — 3 INCH CHAMBER —" on the barrel. Proof and inspection stamps on the barrel shank include an oval "SP," two asterisk-like marks over "172," and a small "97" stamp.
