As a WWII-era Springfield Armory M1 Garand, this rifle is marked "U.S. Rifle, Cal. .30, M1" on the receiver heel and carries period-correct U.S. military identification. The receiver serial is in the early 1941 range, and the barrel is marked "S-A 8-41," reflecting an August 1941 Springfield barrel date.
This example is set up in the traditional configuration with a fixed wood stock, full-length wood handguards, and a parkerized/phosphate matte finish on the metal. The buttstock includes a metal buttplate with checkering and a hinged trap door for the buttstock storage compartment.
The rifle uses the M1 platform's gas-operated, rotating bolt action with a long-stroke piston operating rod system. It feeds from the standard 8-round en-bloc clip system and is chambered in .30-06.
Sighting is handled by iron sights, including a wing-protected front sight at the gas cylinder/front band area and an adjustable aperture (peep) rear sight protected by receiver ears with knurled adjustment knobs. The gas cylinder at the muzzle is consistent with a later gas-port configuration, as noted.
