Markings and receiver details include the Imperial chrysanthemum ("mum") crest on the receiver ring, the Japanese model designation characters 「九九式」, and an arsenal/inspection-style stamp area adjacent to the serial number that is not fully legible. A gas escape/vent hole is visible in the receiver ring area beneath the crest.
The rifle is equipped with open iron sights: a front sight mounted on a block near the muzzle with protective ears, and an adjustable ladder/tangent-style rear sight with folding AA lead elements (wings/calipers). The stock is wood with a finger groove, paired with an upper wood handguard.
