Chambered in 9mm Luger, this is a full-size, short-recoil, locked-breech P.38 with the falling/hinged locking block system. It uses a DA/SA, hammer-fired action with an external hammer.
The slide features the P.38’s open-top design and includes a slide-mounted safety/decocker with a red "F" fire marking. Sighting is via fixed iron sights with a front blade and rear notch.
Markings include "P.38" and "ac 44" on the slide, along with an additional "345 j" marking visible on the rear face area of the slide. The pistol bears Eagle 359 (Waffenamt) proof/acceptance marks, with three Eagle 359 stamps on the frame and slide.
The pistol is fitted with brown, ribbed molded grip panels of a Bakelite/phenolic-type material. It includes one detachable magazine, noted with witness holes and no legible magazine markings visible in photos.
