The Ruger 44 Carbine is a gas-operated, rotating-bolt semi-automatic that delivers .44 Rem Magnum performance in a handy, full-size carbine profile. This example retains the classic 18.5 inch barrel and a fixed tubular magazine with 4-round capacity (4+1 total).
Its solid-top receiver is drilled and tapped for optics and comes with a scope mount installed. Iron sights include a banded front blade and a folding barrel-mounted rear leaf, offering a clear and practical sight picture. The rifle uses a cross-bolt safety for straightforward operation.
Construction is traditional and durable, with a blued steel receiver and barrel paired to a walnut semi-pistol-grip stock. The stock is uncheckered and fitted with an aftermarket ventilated rubber recoil pad and white line spacer, setting the length of pull at 15.0 inches.
Markings and configuration are consistent with the standard Model 44 carbine following Ruger’s change from the earlier “Deerstalker” rollmark. The receiver is rollmarked “RUGER CARBINE .44 MAGNUM CAL.” and the barrel carries the Southport, Connecticut address. Two barrel bands are present, including a front sling loop.
