The SIG716 Patrol uses a short-stroke gas-piston operating system in a 7.62x51 NATO AR-10 platform, offering a robust configuration with a 16-inch threaded barrel capped by an A2-style flash hider. The aluminum receiver is finished in matte black and is marked "SIG716 7.62 NATO" and "SIG SAUER INC., EXETER, NH, USA."
A Lancer Systems carbon-fiber free-float handguard is installed, providing a lightweight, rigid interface around the barrel while maintaining free-float clearance. The rifle features a full-length MIL-STD-1913 top rail with numbered T-marks.
Ergonomics and controls include an ambidextrous safety, a 6-position collapsible polymer stock with a QD socket, and a textured polymer pistol grip. Standard AR features such as a forward assist, ejection-port dust cover, and brass deflector are present.
Magazine compatibility follows the SR-25/AR-10 pattern. Capacity is 25+1, and two 25-round magazines are included. The rifle is configured without sights, allowing the user to set up their preferred sighting system on the top rail.
