Product Description

Mauser K98k Mod. 98 Sporterized 8mm Mauser, 24 in Stepped Barrel, 1944 WWII Receiver, Vintage Scope on Redfield Base

This Mauser K98k Mod. 98 pairs a 1944-dated wartime German receiver with a sporterized setup built on the large-ring, controlled-round-feed action. It features a 24-inch stepped barrel, a custom wood stock with cheekpiece, and a Bishop-marked checkered steel buttplate. A vintage steel-tube scope is installed on a one-piece Redfield base, delivering a clean, purpose-built sporting configuration around a classic WWII-era Mauser.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There are significant handling marks from prior use. The stock is chipped near the bottom of the buttplate. The rifle has been sporterized with a custom-shaped wood stock featuring finger grooves. The bore is bright and clean.

    What’s Included

    • Vintage steel-tube riflescope
    • Two split scope rings
    • Redfield one-piece scope base, PAT. NO. 1,897,280 (Other Pats. Pend.)

Built on the Mauser Model 98 large-ring action, this K98k retains the controlled-round-feed bolt with a third safety lug and a side-swing, low-profile safety on the bolt shroud. The receiver is wartime German and dated 1944, with eagle acceptance marks and the Mod. 98 stamp.

The 24-inch stepped barrel is fitted with a sporter-style front sight ramp and a dovetailed blade. There is no open rear sight, as the rifle is set up for optics. The internal magazine holds 4+1 rounds of 8mm Mauser.

This example has been thoughtfully sporterized with a custom wood stock that includes a cheekpiece, a black fore-end cap, and finger grooves. A Bishop-marked checkered steel buttplate and a bolt takedown disc in the butt are present, along with installed sling swivels. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches.

An installed one-piece Redfield scope base (marked PAT. NO. 1,897,280 OTHER PATS. PEND.) carries two split rings and a vintage steel-tube riflescope. This optics setup complements the front ramp blade for a clean sporting configuration.

Additional markings include an 'at' stamp on the barrel shank and an 'MUB' stamp on the bottom metal. Together with the 1944 date and eagle acceptance marks, these details underscore the rifle's WWII-era German origin and Mauser production lineage.
