Inland Division GM M1 Carbine .30 Carbine (1944) — Custom Choate Side-Folding Stock, 18 Inch Barrel, Phosphate Finish, 30+1
This WWII-era Inland Division of General Motors M1 Carbine, manufactured in 1944, pairs a wartime receiver with a practical custom configuration. It features a Choate Tool Corp synthetic side-folding stock with integral pistol grip, a ventilated metal top handguard, a short accessory rail segment, and a clamp-on multi-port muzzle device. Marked "INLAND DIV" on the heel and "U.S. CARBINE / CAL. .30 M1" on the receiver ring, it retains classic Inland identity while offering updated handling and sighting via a commercial adjustable rear sight marked "PMC."
Condition
Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.
Specific Condition Notes: The Choate synthetic chassis shows typical scratches and handling marks from normal carry and use. The ventilated metal top handguard is slightly loose, a common trait on these setups after repeated handling. The included steel GI-pattern 30-round magazine has a small, superficial rust spot on the feed lip; it does not appear to affect feeding or reliability. The bore is bright and clear with strong rifling and no pitting or heavy fouling.

The configuration is tailored for practical use, featuring a Choate Tool Corp synthetic side-folding stock with integral pistol grip, skeleton butt, and molded checkering. Length of pull measures 15.1 inches. A ventilated metal top handguard and a short under-barrel accessory rail segment round out the chassis-style setup.
Sighting is handled by a commercial adjustable rear sight marked PMC paired with a protected front post, offering clear iron sight alignment. A clamp-on multi-port muzzle device is fitted to the barrel to complement the updated configuration.
