The Model 740 Woodsmaster pairs .308 Winchester chambering with a 22-inch barrel and open sights for clear, practical sighting. The front is a ramped post (no hood), and the rear is an elevator-adjustable open sight mounted on a long barrel base.
The receiver is factory drilled and tapped, and this example has a one-piece scope base installed, offering a straightforward path to mount an optic if desired. A Remington proof mark is present on the barrel, along with a MADE IN U.S.A. roll mark.
Walnut-finished wood furniture features a straight comb and pistol-grip butt with smooth, uncheckered surfaces and a long, slim forend. A ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white-line spacer is fitted, and the length of pull measures 13.25 inches.
Fixed sling swivel studs are installed at the stock toe and forend. The rifle uses a detachable-box magazine system; the well is present, and capacity is listed as 1 round as configured.
