What’s Included
- Browning BAR-22 Grade I .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
Produced in Japan and discontinued in the mid-1980s, the BAR-22 is a blowback-operated semi-auto chambered in .22 LR. This Grade I example carries its original blued finish and walnut furniture with cut diamond checkering, along with a steel buttplate marked Browning.
The rifle uses an under-barrel tubular magazine with a knurled inner tube cap and a loading port window, holding approximately 11 rounds. The receiver is flat-topped with right-side ejection, and a polished bolt is visible through the ejection port.
Sighting is straightforward with open sights: a ramped front blade and a folding rear leaf. A cross-bolt safety provides familiar control. The 20.25 in barrel and 13.75 in length of pull deliver a traditional .22 sporting profile.
Markings reflect Japanese manufacture, and the PY serial date code confirms 1982 production. The Grade I designation (type code 166) matches the walnut gloss finish, cut checkering, and period-correct steel buttplate. A rear sling swivel stud is installed on the stock.
