The no-dash Model 60 is the stainless counterpart to the Chief's Special and is historically recognized as a milestone, marking S&W's move into stainless-steel production. This example dates to 1969 and retains hallmark early features such as the pinned barrel and unshrouded short ejector rod.
Built on the J-frame round-butt, it carries a five-shot fluted cylinder chambered in .38 Spl. The action is double-action/single-action with a narrow smooth trigger and an exposed hammer topped by a narrow checkered spur for confident cocking.
The 1.875 inch pinned barrel pairs with fixed sights: a serrated ramp front and an integral top-strap rear groove. The top strap and barrel rib have longitudinal anti-glare serrations that help cut glare under bright light.
Construction is all stainless steel — frame, barrel, and cylinder — with a brushed/satin presentation. The revolver wears checkered walnut service stocks with silver S&W medallions and an exposed backstrap. Factory markings include "SMITH & WESSON" on the barrel, ".38 S.&W. SPL." caliber designation, and "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the frame.
There is no internal key lock present.
