What’s Included
- Mauser C96 detachable wooden shoulder stock/holster with iron mounting hardware and leather carrier
Commercial-proofed during 1917–1918, this Wartime Commercial C96 is marked "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A/N" on the chamber top and "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER OBERNDORF A NECKAR" on the right frame. A German Crown/U commercial proof is present on the chamber, consistent with commercial-finished wartime production from Oberndorf a/N.
The pistol follows the classic full-size C96 configuration with a 5.5 in barrel and an integral fixed 10-round magazine fed by stripper clips. It uses a short-recoil, locked-breech, single-action-only system and is built on a steel frame and receiver. The one-piece grooved wooden broomhandle grip is present.
Sighting equipment includes a fixed front blade and a tangent rear sight graduated from 50 to 1000 meters. The frame has the factory stock slot and lug with lanyard ring, and this example comes with a detachable wooden shoulder stock/holster that mounts via the iron hinge hardware.
The caliber is unknown. The bore measures roughly 7.8 mm, and confirming the chambering should be done by a gunsmith qualified to perform a chamber cast. With the barrel bulge and unknown caliber, this is a perfect candidate for a gunsmithing project.
