This full-size, first-generation M&P9 delivers a proven striker-fired system with a hinged trigger, internal striker block, and a loaded chamber witness port. The no-thumb-safety configuration provides a clean, straightforward manual of arms while retaining robust internal safeties.
The Melonite-treated stainless steel barrel and black Melonite slide offer durable corrosion resistance. The slide features scalloped rear serrations with no front serrations, and the barrel uses 5-groove, right-hand rifling. Takedown is accomplished via the sear deactivation lever.
Ergonomics are enhanced by the black polymer frame with interchangeable palmswell backstraps, allowing a tailored grip. Sights are fixed 3-dot and dovetailed, with a white-dot front and a low-profile, two-dot steel rear.
Capacity is 17+1 with the included double-stack steel magazines. Overall length is approximately 7.63 inches, with an unloaded weight around 24.0 ounces. A three-slot accessory rail on the dust cover supports common mounted accessories. This U.S.-made example includes its factory test envelope dated 11-22-2006, highlighting its early production provenance.
