The Model 4006 is a standard non-TSW third-generation S&W service pistol built with an all-stainless slide and frame in a matte finish. Its full-size format and approximately 37 oz unloaded weight deliver a solid, durable platform associated with this era of duty pistols.
The pistol uses a short-recoil, DA/SA system with an exposed spur hammer and an ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety/decocker. The slide has rear serrations, and the frame includes vertical frontstrap serrations and a non-railed dust cover.
Sighting is straightforward with fixed low-profile 3-dot sights; the rear is drift-adjustable and secured by a top set screw. The 4-inch barrel pairs with a bore that is bright and clean, with sharp rifling.
Chambered in .40 S&W with an 11+1 capacity, it uses steel double-stack magazines with numbered witness holes. This example includes three 11-round magazines, adding practical value for range use or rotation.
Made in the USA and historically notable as an early .40 S&W duty sidearm, the 4006 saw broad agency adoption in the 1990s–2000s, including by the California Highway Patrol. Overall length is approximately 7.5 inches.
