Manufactured by Izhevsk Mechanical Plant (Izhmekh) in 1944, this example is the 1930 Pattern of the M1895 Nagant. It bears the Izhevsk triangle-with-arrow arsenal mark and an importer engraving of RGUNS IL, along with the 7.62x38R caliber marking.
Chambered in 7.62 Nagant (7.62x38R), this DA/SA revolver uses the distinctive gas-seal mechanism that advances the cylinder forward on firing. It has a seven-shot fluted cylinder with long throats, a right-side loading gate, and a pivoting under-barrel ejector rod. The cylinder does not swing out, and a lanyard ring is installed at the butt.
The revolver is built with carbon steel throughout and finished in blue on the frame, receiver, and cylinder. Checkered wood grip panels provide a traditional hold. Sighting is via a tall fixed front blade set in a transverse dovetail and a fixed rear notch integral to the topstrap.
The barrel measures 4.5, and the internal condition is a highlight: the bore is clean with a mirror finish, and the rifling exhibits sharp lands and grooves.
