Federal Ordnance M1 Garand Tanker 7.62 NATO, 18" Barrel, Parkerized, Springfield Armory Receiver
This Federal Ordnance M1 Garand Tanker is a 7.62 NATO conversion built on a U.S. Springfield Armory receiver from the 1954–1955 era. It features an 18" barrel with a shortened gas system, a ribbed polymer upper handguard, and a parkerized finish. The rifle retains classic M1 Garand iron sights, including a rear aperture with windage and elevation drums marked with BATTLE/RANGE indicators, and it uses the original 8-round internal en-bloc clip system.

This example is a Federal Ordnance "TANKER" conversion built on a U.S. Springfield Armory receiver, chambered in 7.62mm NATO (7.62x51). The receiver markings include "U.S. RIFLE CAL..30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY," alongside "FED ORD INC. S.E.M.
CA." and "TANKER 7.62 NATO," clearly identifying the maker and conversion.
The 18" barrel pairs with a shortened gas cylinder and a shortened, ribbed polymer upper handguard, creating the compact Tanker configuration. The rifle wears a parkerized finish over its steel receiver and components for a classic service look.
Operation remains true to the M1 platform: semi-automatic, gas-operated, rotating bolt, with an 8-round internal en-bloc clip system. The hardwood stock is fitted with sling swivels and a black rubber recoil pad, and the length of pull measures 13.5.
Sights are traditional M1 Garand iron sights: a wing-protected front post on the gas-cylinder base and an adjustable rear aperture with windage and elevation drums. The elevation knob shows BATTLE/RANGE indicators, and a green web sling is installed for carry and support.
