This Smith & Wesson Model 34-1 is a late-1970s .22/32 Kit Gun built on the J-frame with a 2-inch pinned barrel, recessed six-shot cylinder, and adjustable sights. It features a blued carbon-steel construction with factory walnut Magna stocks. Produced in 1978–1979 during the M-prefix J-frame era, it carries the hallmark details collectors look for on this engineering change of the classic Kit Gun.

    What’s Included

    • Smith & Wesson two-piece blue factory box

The Model 34-1 is the J-frame engineering change of the .22/32 Kit Gun, pairing a compact round-butt frame with a 2-inch pinned carbon-steel barrel. Chambered in .22 LR, it uses a six-shot fluted cylinder with recessed chambers and operates in DA/SA. The blued finish over carbon-steel frame, cylinder, and barrel reflects period-correct construction.

Target-style sights include a serrated ramp front sight and an adjustable micrometer rear sight. The topstrap and barrel rib are longitudinally serrated to reduce glare. A standard S&W cylinder latch, unshrouded knurled ejector rod, and fluted cylinder complete the classic small-frame configuration.

The hammer and trigger are case-hardened, with a checkered hammer spur for positive cocking and a smooth trigger face for consistent double-action work. Factory walnut Magna stocks with inset S&W medallions fit the J-frame round-butt, offering a traditional grip profile and look.

Markings are consistent with late-1970s production: "SMITH & WESSON" on the barrel left, ".22 L.R. CTG." on the barrel right, the S&W monogram on the left frame, and "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the right frame. Assembly numbers are present on the yoke cut. Production dates to 1978–1979, aligning with the M-prefix J-frame era.
