Controls are straightforward and robust, including a left-side push-button cylinder latch and a star extractor with a shrouded ejector rod. The factory one-piece Ruger black rubber grip with checkered hardwood insert panels provides a firm, comfortable hold.
The revolver wears a satin/brushed stainless finish across the frame, cylinder, and receiver, with clear factory rollmarks: RUGER SP101 and .357 MAGNUM on the right side of the barrel, and a Newport, NH USA legend on the left barrel flat, along with the Ruger phoenix medallion on the frame.
