Built in New Haven and dating to approximately 1979–1980, this Model 70 XTR represents the push-feed generation identified by its G-prefix serial. Chambered in .270 Win with a 22 inch steel barrel, it delivers the classic Model 70 layout with a 4-round internal box magazine and a hinged floorplate.
The XTR trim brings upgraded polish and finish, including a high-gloss blued exterior and select walnut furniture. The stock is checkered and fitted with a black fore-end tip and black grip cap, each separated by white-line spacers, and includes sling swivel studs. The bolt is jeweled, and the receiver top has a factory anti-glare treatment.
Sighting equipment is factory-original, with a ramped bead front sight and a folding barrel-mounted rear sight. The receiver is drilled and tapped, and this rifle comes with two-piece scope bases installed, ready for the buyer’s preferred optic mounting solution.
Controls include Winchester’s three-position safety on a smooth bolt-action system. The rifle has a 13.5 inch length of pull, and its blued steel and high-gloss walnut present the distinctive look associated with the XTR series. Made in the United States, it reflects the fit and finish of late-1970s New Haven production.
