What's Included
- Toyo Kogyo Arisaka Type 99 Short Rifle chambered in 7.7 Japanese
Produced in Japan during WWII, this Toyo Kogyo Type 99 represents the late-war "last-ditch" pattern. These rifles were simplified to speed production while maintaining core functionality in the 7.7 Japanese service chambering.
As a late-war configuration, it omits accessories typical of early production, including the dust cover, monopod, and cleaning rod. Hardware is simplified with a wooden buttplate and pinned barrel bands, and it uses a single transverse stock bolt.
The stock is a straight-comb, pistol-grip hardwood design with a left-side grasping groove and a short upper handguard. Sling attachment follows the late Type 99 layout: a left-side rear sling swivel on the butt and a front sling loop on the lower band.
Sighting is straightforward and rugged, featuring an unhooded front blade on a squared base and a fixed rear sight block. The turned-down bolt handle with a round knob and the 26 in barrel support the rifle’s compact "short rifle" handling within the platform.
The receiver ring retains the Imperial chrysanthemum crest, a defining Japanese military mark that underscores its wartime origin and service lineage.
