The Model 88C operates on a simple blowback action and is chambered in .22 LR. It was produced in the late 1940s to mid-1950s and is designated here in its standard 88C configuration. The rifle uses a 24 inch steel barrel and a blued steel receiver, reflecting the materials and finish common to Marlin rimfires of the period.
Feeding is from a tubular magazine housed in the buttstock, loaded through an opening in the buttplate, providing a 15-round capacity. The action uses a right-side charging handle, and spent cases exit a right-side oval ejection port. A rotary safety provides straightforward on/off control.
Factory-style open sights include a ramped front sight and a semi-buckhorn rear sight. This rifle also has a scope mount with a vintage WARDSCOPE fixed 4x15mm rimfire scope installed in two steel rings, offering a fixed 4x sight picture suited to small-bore shooting.
The walnut stock has an uncheckered, straight-comb profile with a pistol-grip shape. A white-line spacer accents the hard rubber buttplate, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. The overall configuration aligns with the established features of the Model 88C.
Made in the United States and produced prior to 1968, this example is serial-number-exempt, which is consistent with its era of manufacture.
