Product Description

ROF Maltby No. 4 Mk I .303 British Sporterized Rifle, 22 in Barrel, 1943, BSA Blazer 4x32 Scope

Originally manufactured in 1943 at ROF Maltby, this Lee–Enfield No. 4 Mk I has been professionally sporterized for practical field use. It retains its British proofs and ENGLAND export stamp, features a shortened 22-inch sporter barrel, and includes a side-mounted scope setup with a fixed BSA Blazer 4x32 optic. The receiver is marked "No 4 Mk 1," and the barrel shows a matching serial to the receiver.

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle was welded and altered to a sporter configuration. There is visible finish wear with scattered pitting in areas consistent with prior use and handling.

    What's Included

    • Scope: BSA Blazer 4x32 scope
    • Scope Rings: Weaver scope rings (installed)
    • Scope Mount: Side-mounted scope base (one-piece, installed)
    • MagNotes: Lee-Enfield pattern detachable steel magazine shown

Built on a forged-steel, rear-locking, cock-on-closing Lee–Enfield action, this No. 4 Mk I remains true to its WWII lineage while configured for modern sporting use. It was produced in the United Kingdom at ROF Maltby in 1943 and carries multiple British proof marks, including crowned BNP, .303, and 18.5 TONS, along with the ENGLAND export stamp. The receiver is correctly marked "No 4 Mk 1."

The rifle has been converted with an aftermarket synthetic Monte Carlo stock in black, featuring molded checkering and sling swivel studs. Original military furniture and handguards were removed during the sporterization. The barrel was shortened to 22 inches and turned to a sporter profile for a handier overall package.

Sighting equipment includes a commercial open rear barrel sight and a ramped front sight with a brass bead. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a one-piece side scope base to clear the charger bridge area. Weaver rings secure the installed BSA Blazer 4x32 fixed-power scope, providing a straightforward aiming solution while retaining usable open sights.

The rifle uses a Lee–Enfield pattern detachable 10-round steel magazine and maintains the No. 4’s proven bolt system. The barrel shows a matching serial to the receiver, and the listed length of pull is 14.0 inches.
