What’s Included
- Izhevsk SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle (early 1940 pattern, 6-slot muzzle brake)
- 1x 10-round detachable SVT-40 steel magazine (floorplate marked "СД 285.2" with circled inspector stamp)
The early 1940-pattern configuration stands out with the distinctive 6-slot longitudinal muzzle brake paired to a 27-inch steel barrel. The adjustable gas regulator and the SVT’s semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a tilting-bolt locking mechanism reflect the rifle’s period engineering and intended battlefield adaptability.
Markings are extensive and consistent with Soviet military inspection and acceptance. Notable stamps include the Izhevsk triangle-with-arrow crest, multiple inspection cartouches, star and triangle inspector marks on the rear sight, and triangle/diamond proofs on the front sight base and gas block. The magazine floorplate also carries a circled inspector stamp.
The rifle retains its characteristic furniture and fittings: a perforated sheet-steel upper handguard with circular cooling holes; a hardwood lower handguard with a right-side grasping groove; and a hardwood stock with the rear sling swivel mounted at the toe. Sights are the original iron set, with a protected post front and a tangent rear sight graduated in meters.
Built from machined steel components, this SVT-40 reflects USSR wartime production at Izhevsk during 1940. The bore condition is excellent, offering a clean, mirror finish with sharp rifling, and the overall presentation aligns with a well-preserved WWII-service rifle that shows careful prior handling.
