Smith & Wesson Model 59 9mm DA/SA, First-Generation, 4-inch Barrel, Blued Slide/Alloy Frame, Adjustable Rear Sight, Two 10-Round Magazines (1977–1978)
This first-generation Smith & Wesson Model 59 is a full-size, double-action/single-action 9mm pistol produced circa 1977–1978 in the USA. It features a blued steel slide over an anodized aluminum alloy frame, a 4-inch barrel, and the early-production "PAT'S PENDING" slide rollmark. Notable first-gen traits include the rounded trigger guard, rear-only slide serrations, and a right-side blanking plug opposite the left-side safety/decocker. It comes with two 10-round double-column magazines for a 10+1 capacity.
The Model 59’s control layout includes a left-side slide-mounted safety/decocker, a left-side magazine release button, and a spurred, exposed hammer. Safety features include a magazine disconnect. The double-column magazine system defined the platform and is represented here by the included 10-round steel magazines.
Slide details align with early-production characteristics: rear serrations only and a right-side blanking plug, with the slide marked "PAT'S PENDING." These features, along with the rounded trigger guard, reflect its first-generation configuration from the late 1970s.
Sight equipment consists of a ramped, serrated fixed front blade and a square-notch, screw-adjustable rear sight. The pistol wears smooth hardwood grip panels with S&W medallions, complementing the blued slide and anodized alloy frame.
