Built at Jianshe Arsenal and marked with the triangle /26\ factory code, this H-prefix letter-series rifle represents an early Type 56 configuration from the 1959–1960 era. The receiver omits the Chinese "五六式" model characters, aligning with known characteristics of these transitional, letter-series examples.
All Numbers Matching on the receiver cover, trigger guard, fixed magazine, and buttstock supports its originality. The blued steel receiver and components pair with a hardwood stock and wooden upper handguard, retaining the classic SKS profile and finish of the period.
The rifle follows the SKS-pattern layout with a 20.5-inch barrel and a 12.5-inch length of pull. It uses a fixed 10-round internal magazine loaded via stripper clips, and the action is a semi-automatic, gas-operated short-stroke piston with a tilting-bolt system. Sighting is via a hooded-post front and tangent-leaf rear.
Configured with the correct long-lug underfolding blade bayonet and equipped with sling swivels and a steel buttplate, this example reflects the early Chinese Type 56 setup. Its excellent, mirror-bright bore and sharp rifling complement the rifle’s well-preserved overall condition.
