What's Included
- CVA Mountain Rifle Big Bore .58 caliber percussion muzzleloader rifle
The Mountain Rifle Big Bore combines traditional styling with the larger .58 caliber, offering the series’ classic lines in a less common chambering. It is a single-shot muzzleloader with a right-hand percussion lock and a drum-and-nipple breech, consistent with period-style sidelock construction.
The 32" octagonal barrel carries the roll-mark "Connecticut Valley Arms, Inc. Black Powder Only .58 Cal." It is fitted with an open rear sight with a stepped elevator and a dovetail for a front blade. A long under-rib with two ramrod thimbles runs beneath the barrel, and the barrel is secured by two transverse wedge keys with oval escutcheons.
Trigger control is via double set triggers, providing a traditional set-and-fire arrangement valued on many sidelock rifles. The capacity is 1 round, loaded from the muzzle as expected for this pattern.
The stained hardwood stock features a right-hand cheekpiece and is finished with classic hardware: a poured pewter-style nose cap at the fore-end and a steel crescent buttplate. There is no patchbox on the stock. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches for a full-size fit.
As a 1970s–1980s CVA reproduction, this rifle reflects the brand’s Connecticut Valley Arms markings and period production details while presenting the desirable Big Bore .58 configuration within the Mountain Rifle line.
