The Model 700 BDL (Custom Deluxe) trim level brings upgraded wood and metalwork, and this rifle displays those features clearly. The gloss walnut stock has a right-hand Monte Carlo comb with cheekpiece, cut/skip-line checkering, and a contrasting black fore-end tip with a white-line spacer. Sling swivel studs and a ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white-line spacer round out the classic BDL configuration.
The rifle is chambered in 8mm Remington Magnum and uses a 24 inch sporter contour barrel. The bore is in excellent condition with a clean, mirror finish and sharp rifling, consistent with careful use. The receiver carries the Oval REP proof, and the barrel date code "WV" denotes August 1979 production.
This Model 700 uses an internal box magazine with a stated 3+1 capacity. It has a hinged floorplate, and the floorplate release is placed inside the trigger guard for convenient unloading. The action is the well-known Model 700 bolt-action design, paired with the traditional blued finish.
The receiver is drilled and tapped, and a scope mount is installed. There are no factory iron sights on the rifle. Two plugged screw holes at the muzzle are consistent with a removed front sight ramp, aligning with the no-sight configuration currently present.
Ergonomics and fit are aided by the 14.25 inch length of pull and the right-hand stock geometry. Overall, the rifle presents as a 1979 BDL (Custom Deluxe) with its period-correct appointments intact and a bore that rates excellent.
