Built in the United States, the Deerfield Carbine uses a gas-operated, fixed-piston/moving-cylinder system with a rotating bolt. Chambered in .44 Rem Magnum, it feeds from a detachable 4-round rotary magazine for a total 4+1 capacity. The 18.5-inch barrel uses a 1:20 twist.
The open-top receiver ejects from the top and includes integral scope bases. Factory iron sights consist of a ramped front blade with a barrel band and a receiver-mounted folding aperture rear sight with windage and elevation screws. Ruger integral rings are installed.
The American hardwood stock is configured with a Monte Carlo comb and a right-hand cheekpiece. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the stock is finished with a checkered metal buttplate. Length of pull is 14 inches, and controls include a cross-bolt safety.
This Model 99/44 Deerfield Carbine presents clean, well-cared-for metal and wood surfaces, paired with an excellent bore and sharp rifling. It retains its factory sighting setup while also providing integral bases and installed rings for scope use.
