Built by FN in Belgium, this Superposed Lightning Grade I combines proven field geometry with hallmark Belgian craftsmanship. The Lightning configuration brings the round-knob pistol grip and long tang, paired here with a neutral cast and neutral grip for broad fit. The walnut stock is hand-checkered and retains the correct factory Browning buttplate, while the receiver carries the factory FN Grade I scroll engraving over a blued steel finish.
The 26.5 inch steel barrels are marked "Special Steel" with patent numbers and wear a ventilated, matted top rib that provides a clean, ribbed sighting plane. Chambers are marked for both 2 3/4 inch and 3 inch shells, giving flexibility within 20 gauge. Capacity is 2, with automatic ejectors that are well timed.
Controls and working features reflect the classic Superposed layout, including a tang safety and a single gold-colored trigger. Length of pull measures 14 inches. Belgian Liège proofmarks confirm origin and inspection, and the receiver and barrel markings align with a Grade I, 1960s-era Superposed.
Mechanical notes specific to this example include an action that drops with very little resistance and a locking lug currently at the full 6 o'clock position that will need refreshment. Ejectors are correctly timed. These details are provided for clarity on the gun's present mechanical state.
