Built in 1993, this 188-series Ranch Rifle falls squarely in the early-1990s production era and predates the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban. The receiver carries the correct Ruger Southport, Conn. address and “RANCH RIFLE CAL..223” rollmarks. The gas block includes the integral front sling loop as found on Mini-14 rifles of this period.
The stainless receiver and 18.5-inch stainless barrel provide a durable, corrosion-resistant foundation. The muzzle is externally threaded with no device installed. The action is Ruger’s gas-operated, short-stroke fixed piston system with a rotating bolt. The rifle retains iron sights: a front blade on a banded base and a protected rear aperture mounted to the receiver.
As configured, the rifle wears a Butler Creek metal side-folding skeleton stock with a rubber buttplate, paired with a black synthetic pistol-grip lower/forend and a ventilated black polymer upper handguard. Butler Creek branding is visible on the buttplate. A spare full-length wooden stock is included for those who prefer a traditional Mini-14 setup.
The Ranch receiver’s integral scope-ring cuts and modified ejection system support use with optics, while the 30+1 capacity and included 30-round and 20-round magazines deliver practical range utility. This U.S.-made Mini-14 represents a distinctive 1990s configuration with desirable pre-ban status and threaded muzzle.
