Built in 1944 by the Inland Manufacturing Division (General Motors), this carbine reflects its WWII production heritage with the correct receiver ring model marking and an 18-inch barrel. The action is the M1’s short-stroke tappet gas system with a rotating bolt, chambered in .30 Carbine and fed by a detachable box magazine.
Key configuration details include an early-style barrel band without a bayonet lug and with a side sling swivel, a round bolt, and an M2-pattern "M"-marked magazine catch. The front sight is the protected-post type. The rear sight has been removed to accommodate the receiver-top scope base with rings.
The furniture is full-length hardwood with an oil finish, featuring the sling/oiler cut and a checkered steel buttplate. The wood upper handguard has a single longitudinal vent slot with two small drilled holes at the rear, consistent with known M1 handguard patterns.
Practical enhancements include the installed receiver-mounted scope base with rings and a clamp-on multi-port muzzle brake. The length of pull measures 13.0 inches. The receiver heel maker’s mark area is presently covered by the scope base, a reversible condition should the mount be removed.
