The Model 241 Speedmaster is a semi-automatic blowback design with bottom ejection, a right-side loading port, and a buttstock tubular magazine. In .22 LR, capacity is nominally about 10 rounds. This configuration keeps ejection clear of the shooter and preserves the rifle’s clean lines.
The rifle uses a 24 inch round steel barrel and a true takedown system. Its internal barrel-tightening mechanism—unique to the Model 241—secures barrel-to-receiver fit when assembled, a defining technical feature of this series.
Factory-style open sights include a front blade/bead and an open rear with a stepped elevator. In addition, this rifle is equipped with a slim vintage telescopic scope on barrel-band mounts with a rubber eyecup and no visible maker’s mark.
Construction is blued steel with walnut furniture. The stock is a straight-comb, uncheckered design with a buttstock loading port and a checkered metal buttplate, paired with a walnut fore-end. Receiver markings read "THE SPEEDMASTER" and "Remington MODEL 241," while the barrel is stamped "22 LONG RIFLE ONLY - SMOKELESS - GREASED." A DSS stamp is present. Length of pull is 13.5 inches. Made in the United States in the 1940s, this example dates to 1947.
