This receiver is correctly marked on the ring "U.S. ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL MODEL 1903" and retains the standard M1903 stripper-clip slot in the rear bridge. The receiver ring is threaded and includes the gas-vent hole, and the forging incorporates the integral recoil lug and front guard screw boss consistent with the pattern.
Several original assemblies are present, including the magazine cut-off with "ON/OFF" markings and the ejector/bolt stop assembly. The internal box magazine interface is intact, though magazine components are not present. This receiver is the barrel-sight pattern with no receiver-mounted sight base.
Made in 1913 in the United States, this Rock Island Arsenal example represents the single heat-treatment era and is finished in blue/black over forged carbon steel. RIA M1903 receivers are encountered less often than their Springfield Armory counterparts, which adds context and interest for builders and collectors focused on early production receivers.
Configured as a stripped receiver, it provides an authentic foundation for an M1903 project while preserving period-correct features and markings specific to Rock Island Arsenal production.
