The front end shows the commercial pattern details: a non-GI front sight base with squared ears and two circular lightening holes supporting a protected-post front sight, a narrow barrel band with sling swivel and no bayonet lug, and a ventilated four-hole wood handguard. The barrel is 18 inches and finished in blued carbon steel.
The hardwood stock has a through-butt sling slot, a checkered metal buttplate with no trap door, and no GI oiler cut. Controls include a lever safety and a magazine catch marked "M." Length of pull is 13.0 inches.
