What’s Included
- Nagoya Arsenal Type 99 Short Rifle (late-war last-ditch) chambered in 7.7 Japanese
Produced at Nagoya Arsenal during WWII, this Type 99 is the late-war last-ditch variant, also known as the substitute-standard configuration. It follows the simplified pattern adopted late in the conflict while retaining core service features such as a 26 in barrel and a 5-round internal box magazine loaded via stripper clips.
The action is bolt-operated with a straight bolt handle and the familiar rear safety knob. Wartime simplifications include a hinged floorplate and a streamlined trigger guard pattern. A dust cover is not present by design on this late-war configuration.
The rifle is stocked in a one-piece, full-length hardwood stock with a metal buttplate. Side sling fittings are installed, with a side sling swivel on the stock. There is no upper handguard, which aligns with late-war production shortcuts.
Sighting equipment is similarly simplified: a fixed block rear sight pairs with a front blade protected by sturdy ears. The front band incorporates a bayonet lug.
Markings include the "九九式" (Type 99) model designation on the receiver ring, as well as arsenal and series symbols to the right of the serial on the left side of the receiver. A cleaning rod is absent, consistent with many late-war examples.
