It features Marlin's solid-top, side-eject architecture with the right-side loading gate cut, factory "MARLIN SAFETY" top marking, and "MODEL 1894" on the upper tang. It is a true gunsmith special and a period-correct foundation for restoring or completing a Model 1894 with appropriate parts.

Original factory markings are intact: "MARLIN SAFETY" on the top and "MODEL 1894" on the upper tang. The serial number 196006 is on the side of the upper tang. The receiver also has two small drilled and tapped holes on the top flat, and the stock/tang screw holes are present.
Compatibility is specific: this is a small-frame Marlin 1894 receiver and accepts Model 1894 internals only. It is not interchangeable with Marlin 1893, 36, or 336 actions, and it is not compatible with Winchester 1894 parts. This is not a Winchester Model 1894 stripped receiver; it is a Marlin Model 1894 receiver with Marlin's solid-top architecture.
