The Model 64-5 is a stainless steel K-frame service revolver chambered in .38 Special, built with a 6-shot fluted cylinder and a 4-inch heavy profile barrel with a short underlug. It operates in double-action/single-action and uses fixed sights for a simple, durable sighting setup.
Construction is all stainless steel, including the frame, barrel, and cylinder, finished in brushed stainless. The topstrap is matte/serrated to reduce glare. Controls include a checkered cylinder release and an exposed knurled ejector rod. The revolver has a smooth trigger face and an exposed hammer with a checkered spur.
Sight configuration is fixed: an integral serrated ramp front sight and a fixed rear notch in the topstrap. This straightforward setup supports quick alignment and a consistent point of aim.
This example is fitted with an aftermarket Hogue Monogrip rubber grip. The barrel is non-pinned. Rollmarks include "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side of the barrel and ".38 S.& W. SPECIAL CTG." on the right, with the right frame marked "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." and the S&W crest on the left frame.
