This early center-grip Remington Model XP-100 is a first-year production pistol in .221 Fireball, verified by the Remington barrel date code "B K G" for January 1963. It features the 10.75-inch barrel with a ventilated rib marked "PAT. PEND." and an integral triangular front sight ramp. A non-factory laminated center-grip thumbhole stock is installed, and Buehler steel scope base and rings are mounted. The bore is excellent, and the left-side bolt handle is configured for right-handed operation.

    What's Included

    • Buehler steel scope rings with matching Buehler base (installed)

This XP-100 represents the earliest configuration of Remington’s bolt-action single-shot pistol, with the center-grip layout that defined the original design. The left-side bolt handle is intended for right-handed operation, and the bolt body is left bright. Markings include the REP oval proof on the barrel and the "PAT. PEND." legend on the ventilated rib.

The barrel measures 10.75 inches and is paired with a blued finish. The ventilated rib carries an integral triangular front sight ramp, maintaining the clean, low-profile sighting arrangement found on early examples. Chambered in .221 Fireball, this setup reflects the model’s original high-velocity intent.

A custom laminated hardwood stock replaces the factory furniture. It retains the center-grip architecture and adds a thumbhole, palm swell, and a squared forend tip for a secure, consistent hold. This non-factory stock is a functional, period-appropriate upgrade that complements the pistol’s handling.

Optics mounting is ready to go with a Buehler steel base and matching rings installed. This pairing is sturdy and well-regarded, offering a solid interface for glass without altering the pistol’s lines or original barrel rib.

As a first-year production example made in 1963 in the United States, this pistol ties directly to Remington’s short action lineage that also underpinned the Model 600. It combines collectible early features with thoughtful, user-focused customization.
