Zastava M48 8mm Mauser Bolt-Action Rifle - 24" Barrel, Yugoslav Crest, Hardwood Stock
This post-WWII Zastava M48 stands out with its Yugoslav crest over "M 48" on the receiver ring and "ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44" factory marking on the left receiver rail. It uses the Mauser 98–type controlled-round feed system with a large-ring receiver and long external claw extractor. The rifle is chambered in 8mm Mauser, features a 24" barrel, and is in very good condition with an excellent bore. A leather sling is installed.
Built on the intermediate-length Yugoslav M98 action, this M48 retains the mechanical robustness and feeding reliability associated with the Mauser pattern. The 5-round internal magazine is designed for use with stripper clips, supporting efficient loading while maintaining the rifle’s classic configuration.
Its full-length hardwood stock with an upper handguard includes a crossbolt, sling slot, steel buttplate, and bayonet lug. The iron sights consist of a hooded front post and a tangent ladder rear, providing a traditional sighting setup appropriate to the platform.
National markings are a highlight: the Yugoslav crest appears on the receiver ring, while the Cyrillic "ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44" (Preduzeće 44) identification on the left receiver rail confirms its origin. These details, combined with its clean chamber and strong rifling, make this an appealing example of postwar Yugoslav production.
