Built on the robust N-frame, this Model 24 is configured in the classic three-screw, square-butt layout associated with early 1960s production. It is chambered in .44 Special with a six-shot, non-recessed cylinder, combining traditional S&W strength with a cartridge favored for target work.
The 6.5 in tapered carbon-steel barrel is pinned and features a serrated top rib and a short ejector-rod lug. Sights are set up for precision: a front sight paired with the S&W micrometer-adjustable rear.
Controls include a factory trigger and hammer. Factory checkered diamond-pattern target stocks with S&W gold medallions complete the period-correct handling and appearance.
The frame, cylinder, and barrel are finished in polished blue carbon steel, with the S&W monogram crest on the right sideplate and the "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." legend. The legal serial number is located on the butt under the stocks, and assembly numbers are present on the cylinder face and yoke/crane. Production for this configuration is estimated between 1961 and 1967.
