What's Included
- Colt Deringer Fourth Model (No. 4) .22 Short single-shot pistol
This Fourth Model derringer represents Colt's only 20th-century production derringer line, introduced to meet demand driven by Western nostalgia. Produced for Colt by Butler in New Haven, it aligns with the series' typical construction and markings while retaining the compact, easily carried form that defines the model.
The pistol uses a single-shot, tip-up barrel system actuated by a checkered top latch for loading and unloading. It has an external hammer with a checkered spur and a spur trigger without a guard, preserving the traditional derringer control layout.
Finish and materials include a blued barrel paired with a bright nickel frame. The birdshead grip profile is fitted with smooth brown marbled synthetic panels secured by a brass escutcheon, maintaining the model’s distinctive look and feel.
Markings are period-correct for the series: the top of the barrel carries script "COLT," while the left side shows a three-line legend that includes ".22 CAL. SHORT" and Colt’s Hartford address. Barrel length is approximately 2.4 inches with a 1-round capacity, consistent with the compact, micro-size format.
