The Model 59 follows the Makarov pattern with a fixed barrel and straight blowback operation, delivering the characteristic simplicity and reliability of the design. It is chambered in 9x18mm Makarov and configured for DA/SA use with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and an external spur hammer.
This pistol is a verified pre-ban import with Beta Arms Inc. markings on the left side of the slide and a clear right-side legend reading "MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO / MODEL 59 9x18mm." A triangular arsenal cartouche is present on the left frame, and the slide and frame carry matching serial numbers.
Construction is all steel with a polished blued finish. The slide features angled rear serrations and serrated anti-glare ribbing along the top. A lanyard ring is fitted at the butt for secure retention.
Ergonomics and controls are straightforward, with a one-piece brown phenolic/bakelite grip bearing a star medallion. Sighting is practical, using a fixed front blade and a drift-adjustable rear notch in a dovetail. The compact 3.68 inch barrel and 8+1 capacity make it a concise, well-balanced sidearm.
