The carbine configuration pairs a 20 inch round steel barrel with a full-length tubular magazine for a 6+1 capacity in .30-30. The receiver is top-eject and uses a right-side loading gate. Two barrel/magazine bands secure the forend and tube in the traditional carbine style.
Sighting equipment is all iron: a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear. The receiver’s left wall has factory plug screws to accept a receiver (peep) sight if desired.
The wood furniture is walnut throughout, with a straight-grip, uncheckered buttstock and a walnut carbine forend. A checkered metal WRA-marked shotgun-style buttplate is fitted. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches.
Barrel markings include “MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A. — WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL,” reflecting its U.S. manufacture in 1971. The rifle wears a blued finish and retains the period-correct configuration with no cross-bolt or tang safety.
