Built by Remington Arms Co., Inc., Ilion, New York, the Model 41 Targetmaster was produced from 1936 to 1939 with approximately 307,000 made. This example carries the correct rollmark and reflects the straightforward, single-shot bolt-action design envisioned by C.C. Loomis.
It features a 27" barrel chambered for .22 Short, .22 Long, or .22 Long Rifle, paired with its standard iron sights: a front blade and an open rear leaf with elevator. This is the standard open-sight configuration and not the 41P peep-sight variant.
The rifle retains its classic wood stock with a straight comb and slight pistol grip, uncheckered, along with a half-stock, sporter-length wood fore-end that stops well short of the muzzle. A Remington-logo checkered hard-rubber buttplate and a blued steel receiver complete the period-correct construction. Length of pull is 13.5".
For sighting, a vintage Weaver steel-tube rimfire scope is installed on a clamp-on barrel/receiver base with two ring blocks. The rifle also includes a manual safety and a single-round capacity, consistent with the Targetmaster’s simple, reliable operation.
