What’s Included
- Pachmayr Gun Works slip-on rubber recoil pad (Los Angeles, Calif.)
- Paired scope blocks/bases installed on receiver bridge and barrel shank
Built in 1935, this Model 99 EG reflects pre-WWII Savage production with the desirable EG trim: a walnut pistol-grip stock, schnabel-tip fore-end, and a blued steel receiver matched to a 24-inch round barrel. The lever and trigger guard show a case-hardened finish that complements the blued metalwork.
The rifle uses the Model 99’s internal rotary magazine with a cartridge-counter window, and a hammerless lever-action design. The solid-frame, non-takedown receiver has a solid top and a long loading/ejection port, consistent with pre-war configuration details. Capacity is 3+1 in .300 Savage.
Sighting equipment includes a ramped front sight with a dovetailed blade and an open rear sight with a stepped elevator. The receiver bridge and barrel shank are factory drilled and tapped for scope blocks, and paired blocks are currently installed, providing a straightforward path to mounting compatible optics of the buyer’s choice.
Markings include pre-war Savage Arms Corporation legends such as "HI-PRESSURE STEEL - PROOF TESTED," as well as an SP oval proof. The rifle was made in the United States and retains the classic lines and mechanical features that define the Model 99’s pre-war era.
