It features the Swiss straight-pull, front-locking bolt with a circular cocking ring, with the bolt left in the white. The action and overall construction reflect Swiss service standards of the period.
The rifle is outfitted with a tangent rear sight graduated to 1500 meters and a protected post front sight with side ears. It retains its hardwood full-length stock with separate handguard, long oval finger-groove fore-end, steel buttplate, and left-side sling hardware. A stacking hook is present on the front band. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
Markings include the Swiss cross-in-shield crest on the receiver ring, Swiss proof and inspection stamps, and a "P" stamp on the top of the receiver ring. The model and caliber are marked "MDL K 31 7.5 x 55 SIG SWISS." The import mark is "C.A.I. GEORGIA VT." Additional bolt markings observed are "WC1943" and "SMZ" with a Swiss cross.
This example has matching serial numbers on the receiver, bolt, and magazine floorplate. The soldier’s identity tag compartment under the buttplate is present, but the tag is missing, and "45" is engraved in the stock under the buttplate. The bore is clean and shiny, consistent with the strong bore condition noted above.
