Chambered in 9mm Luger, this P.08 operates on the Luger short-recoil, toggle-locked system. It carries fixed sights with a front blade and a rear notch integral to the rear toggle link, the standard 8+1 capacity, and a manual safety. The safety well bears the "GESICHERT" legend.
The top of the chamber is stamped "1916," and the toggle is marked "S/42." The pistol shows Imperial German crowned-letter acceptance proofs and a barrel shank "8,82" gauge marking. The frame carries serial 4804 g. Several small components—such as the takedown lever, extractor, and toggle parts—are numbered "04" and match the frame, while the receiver/barrel assembly is 7494 and the magazine base is 5616. The frame and slide appear to be from two different guns.
The pistol has the classic short P.08 barrel profile of approximately 100 mm (4 in). It is built with carbon steel for both barrel and receiver, finished in blued, and fitted with checkered wood grip panels.
This example represents a WWI-era German P.08 with notable markings and mixed-number components, including the S/42 toggle assembly. It comes with one 8-round magazine and a soft zippered carry case.
